Weekly Study Schedule for CBSE Class 12 Science (PCM/PCB)
Class 12 students juggle boards + entrance prep + school + tuition. Here is a realistic weekly schedule that fits everything.
Assumptions
- School: 8 AM β 2 PM (MonβSat).
- Tuition: 4 PM β 6 PM (Mon, Wed, Fri).
- Total study time available: ~35 hours/week.
- Sleep: 7.5 hours nightly (non-negotiable).
The 60-30-10 principle
- 60% on board syllabus (35 Γ 0.6 = 21 hours/week)
- 30% on entrance-specific problems (~10 hours)
- 10% on revision + weakness repair (~4 hours)
Board and entrance overlap ~70%. Do not double-count.

Rules that make this work
1. Same subject at the same time each day
Your brain warms up faster. Physics at 6 AM every day means less transition friction.
2. Never skip Sunday review
Sunday 2-hour review:
- List what was covered this week.
- List what was NOT covered.
- List every question you got wrong.
- Plan next week's Fri mock around the weakest topic.
3. Mock test every Friday
No exceptions. Even if syllabus not complete, mock the completed portion. Discipline over completeness.
4. One rest evening per week
Fri or Sat evening. No study. Watch a movie, walk outside, meet a friend. Rest is not weakness β it is recovery.
Adjustments for PCB (NEET-focused)
- Replace half of Maths hours with additional Biology (Human Physiology, Ecology).
- Increase Chemistry (especially Organic) since NEET is chem-heavy.
Adjustments for PCM (JEE-focused)
- Increase Physics problem-solving to 4 hours/day.
- Add one Maths mock every alternate Saturday.
- Chemistry: less biology, more physical + inorganic.
Non-negotiable habits
- β 7.5 hours sleep every night.
- β 20 min walk daily (best time: after school).
- β Weekly Sunday review.
- β No phone in bedroom.
- β No study past 10 PM (diminishing returns).
When motivation dips
Every student loses motivation in November or January. Fix:
- Return to the syllabus tracker. See what's left. Concrete numbers reset panic.
- Solve one chapter you already know cold. Instant confidence.
- Talk to a teacher, not a peer. Peers amplify anxiety.
Consistency for 30 weeks beats intensity for 3 weeks. Every year.
